Odisha to build 866 new bridges under Biju Setu Yojana

Bhubaneswar: The state government will build 866 new bridges Under Biju Setu Yojana (BSY) in Odisha.

The state Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a proposal in this regard, said Chief Secretary PK Jena.

“The BSY was launched by the state government in 2011-12 fiscal for improvement of connectivity in rural areas. The Cabinet approved a proposal to extend the scheme up to 2025-26 fiscal. It has been decided to take up 866 new bridges in addition to the completion of ongoing projects with an additional outlay of Rs 3,597.22 crore,” said the Chief Secretary.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal to enhance the subsidy under the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021, he added.

The state government has decided to transfer the administration of minor minerals from Revenue and Disaster Management department to Steel and Mines department, revealed Jena.

“The state government has decided to amend Odisha Specified Minor Minerals Auction Rules, 2019 to bring more transparency in auction process of specified minor minerals,” he said.

The Odisha Sub-Ordinate Excise Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Sub-Inspectors of Excise) Rules, 2023 for recruitment of Excise Sub-Inspectors got approval of the state cabinet.

Besides, the Cabinet also approved a proposal for restructuring of the cadre strength of Odisha Forest Service Group-B and Group-A, said the Chief Secretary.

The state government has decided to frame Odisha Ministerial Services (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Services of the District Offices of Department of the Rural Development) Rules, 2023 to solve issues related to the appointment and promotion of Group C and Group D employees in Rural Development department.
