Puri, May 10:
Government Railway Police (GRP) today filed chargesheet against Ramachandran Subash for setting train coaches afire in Odisha’s Puri. He was also produced in Puri Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court.
The next hearing of the case has been scheduled for May 23.
The cops may take him on remand once again, should there be a need, said GRP DSP Debendra Kumar Dash.
He was sent back to Puri jail a while after being produced in the court.
Notably, National Investigation Agency (NIA) that had been probing the serial burning of three trains in Odisha’s Puri, filed its closure report on April 26. In its report, NIA made it clear before the Khurda District and Sessions Judge Court that Ramachandran had no terror links. The agency, instead, called him a megalomaniac.
“Today was the last day for production. That is why we produced him in the court. NIA had taken him for interrogation. However, the agency made it clear that neither Subash has any links with any terrorist group nor is there any terrorist group involved in Puri train arson,” said Dash.
