Odisha TV actor’s death: Cops form team to quiz Jessy, two others

Odisha police have formed a six-member team to interrogate the three persons, including television actor Jessy, who had accompanied actor Ranjit Patnaik alias Raja on the fateful night.

The six members of the special investigation team include Remuna police station IIC Sudarshan Das, Balasore Industrial Estate police station IIC Paresh Rout and Soro police station IIC Parshuram Sahu among others.

Earlier in the day, Balasore SP Niti Sekhar went to the spot near Chaparpada bridge over river Kansa Bansa in Balasore district where the 38-year-old actor reportedly fell off the bridge.

For the third consecutive day, event coordinator Pralay Jena and driver Dhaneswar Behera were interrogated today. The duo reached the Soro police station at 11 am who were released yesterday late night after questioning.

Popular television actor Pralipta Priyadarshini Samal aka Jessy also appeared before the investigators today. After repeated summons to depose before the police and cooperate in the investigation, Jessy had turned up at the Soro police station yesterday.

Later in the day, the cops took the trio to the spot to narrate the sequence of event leading to the actor’s death.

The trio was released on a personal recognisance (PR) bond after hours of grilling.

Meanwhile, police are contemplating to conduct polygraph test on the co-passengers who had accompanied the choreographer-turned-actor Raja to the event in Balasore district with conflicting voices coming in.

Soro police will write to State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) on Monday to conduct polygraph test on the co-passengers who were present at the spot where Raja reportedly fell off a bridge while he had gone to attend nature’s call.
