Odisha’s Dana Majhi receives sum donated by Bahrain PM

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, Sep 15:

The donation extended by Bahrain Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa as an exemplary humanitarian gesture today reached Odisha’s Dana Majhi who shot to international limelight after he was spotted carrying his wife’s body on his shoulders for over 12 km after he was allegedly denied a hearse.

The impoverished tribal man—now a millionaire—received the cheque of nearly Rs 9 lakh at Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in New Delhi.

Tariq Mubarak bin Dainah, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of India, presented the cheque to Majhi.

Majhi was accompanied by two staff of Bhubaneswar-based KIIT University to the national capital.

“I feel very elated to have received the donation. I’ll deposit the money in the bank. This contribution will help in shaping my daughters’ future. They will be able do higher study and get employment,” Dana Majhi expressed.
