Wall collapse in Odisha’s Satyabadi: Headmaster, house owner to be booked

Two days after the tragic incident where one girl was killed and 24 others sustained injuries in wall collapse in Odisha’s Puri district , the district administration today directed the officials to register criminal cases against two persons.

District Collector Arvind Agarwal directed the Circle Education Officer (CEO) to register criminal cases against the headmaster of Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir (SSVM) and the owner of the house adjacent to the school where the mishap took place.

Besides, the BEOs have been asked to submit a report after a survey on unsafe schools in their respective jurisdictions.

Following the incident, the school has remained closed in which around 700 students are studying.

The officials have also been asked to verify whether the institution is running in a safe house.

“The school is shut since last two days and we are taking measures to reopen it in the next two days,” District Project Co-ordinator (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) Soundarya Manjari Das said.

Notably, a girl student died and 24 others were injured after a wall fell on them while they were taking out their bicycles from the parking lot in the school at Basukera in Sakhigopal under Satyabadi block on Thursday afternoon.
