Odisha’s Srimandir to reopen next month

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri, which has been closed due to the COVID-19 situation, will reopen next month, informed Shree Jagannath Temple Administration’s chief administrator Krishan Kumar today.

“There are plans for reopening of Srimandir for devotees in the 2nd or 3rd week of December. Special standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be formulated for the devotees who will visit the temple,” he said after a meeting of the Chattisa Nijog.

Speaking on the Nagarjuna Besha of the deities to be held on Friday, Kumar said a 3-layer security arrangement will be made at the temple during the event. Nobody other than the servitors will be allowed to enter the temple premises. Action will be taken against any kind of violation, he said.

The servitors will not be allowed to carry mobile phones with them inside the temple during Nagarjuna Besha, he added.
