Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Aug 9:

The Odisha State Employment Mission Society (OSEMS) will promote training in agriculture and allied sectors.

As per the decision taken in this regard at the project approval committee meeting of the Society presided over by chief secretary GC Pati at the State Secretariat here on Friday, the quality of training imparted through project implementing agencies ( PIAs) will be evaluated by a third party.

It was revealed that OSMES has already invited expression of interest (EoI) for empanelment of such agencies as PIA. However, the agencies, engaged by OSEMS as PIA or its sister organization, shall not be eligible for empanelment as third party assessment agency.

OSEMS has set the target to train around 25000 people during the current financial year for which 36 PIAs have been empanelled.

Training in each module will be imparted for 600 hours. The funds will be provided at the rate of Rs 25 per hour of training.

The chief secretary directed the OSEMS authorities to identify more credible PIAs from among the industries and industry associations having scope for captive employment.

He also asked the authorities of Employment Training and Technical Education (ET&TE) department to make the skill development framework more flexible and need based.

Present at the meeting, Development Commissioner AP Padhi asked OSEMS authorities to provide follow up services to trained youths in agri-entrepreneurship to enable them to engage in self-employment ventures.
