Poll squad seizes Rs 13 lakh cash in Odisha; Congress MLA candidate among 3 detained

Keonjhar: In fresh incidents of unaccounted cash seizure ahead of the elections, police seized around Rs 13 lakhs during patrolling at separate places in the State today.

The Champua police of Keonjhar district seized Rs 1.98 lakh from the car of Congress MLA candidate from Champua, Jadumani Barik, near Shankarpur area today.The cops also seized election campaigning posters from the vehicle. They detained the poll aspirant and are interrogating him in this connection.

In a separate incident, an election flying squad seized Rs 8 lakh while carrying out patrolling at Bathla Chhak of Patnagarh in Bolangir district today. The police detained the owner of the vehicle Chudamani Kata, who runs a cotton mill, in this connection.

In Sonepur, a special squad of police seized Rs 3 lakh cash from a car at Haradkhol in Sonepur district and detained its owner for interrogation.
