Poll violence: Car of former Congress MLA torched in Odisha

In yet another incident of violence related to the ongoing panchayat polls in Odisha, cars of former Congress MLA Rabi Mallick and his two supporters were allegedly torched by opposition party workers at Podana village under Kapasi panchayat in Niali block of Cuttack district last night.

It has further been alleged that the workers barged into Mallick’s house, ransacked several articles and set his three paddy stacks on fire.

A scuffle later ensued between the two groups in which one person was injured and admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Tension is still prevailing in the village, reports said, adding that police patrolling is on in the area.
