Priest beaten to death in Odisha’s Khurda district

Khurda, May 24:

Tension ran high in the area after the body of a priest was found in a pool of blood this morning in Odisha’s Khurda district.

According to reports, the priest of Salatara Temple identified as Debraj Mohapatra was beaten to death by unidentified miscreants following which locals blocked the Baghamari-Kalapathara road leading to road blockade for quite some time.

The locals demanded that scientific team be pressed into service and nab the culprits behind the incident at the earliest.

Mohapatra was found dead near a pond at Gediapalli village under Bolagarh block in the district.

Local police rushed to the spot and began an investigation into the matter.

The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. The body has been sent for post-mortem, a police official said.
