Prof Bag named first director of Odisha’s VSSIMSR

Prof (Dr) Sunamali Bag, currently serving as the Director Medical Education & Training (DMET) with the Odisha government’s Health department, has been appointed as the first director of the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VSSIMSR), Burla which was declared as an unitary state university very recently.

Prof (DR) Sunamali BagA notification in this regard was issued by the state government on Thursday.

“This is home coming for me, I will always try my level best to deliver the best in accordance with the important responsibility vested on me”, said Dr Bag in his reactions to reporters on his new appointment.

My first and foremost duty would be to provide the best of treatment to patients and at the same time take VSSIMSR to new heights in the field of medical education and research, Dr Bag said.

Dr Bag who was born in Kalahandi district had served for a long period at the VSS Medical College and Hospital, Burla now rechristened as VSSIMSR.

A specialist in Neurology Prof Dr Bag had worked as the principal of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Brahmapur before he was appointed as the DMET.
