Rs 1000 crore interim Central assistance for disaster-hit Odisha

Odisha will receive an amount of Rs 1000 crore as interim Central assistance for post cyclone and post flood relief and restoration work. This was announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi today.

The interim assistance announced today is on the basis of the preliminary report by the Central inter-ministerial team which visited Odisha revently to assess the losses caused by the twin disasters.

In addition, the Centre will provide an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh for each of those killed and Rs 50,000 for each of the critically injured in the cyclone and flood.

The PM also announced Rs 1000 crore assistance for the disaster- hit Andhra Pradesh which suffered great losses in terms of  lives and property due to cyclone, heavy rain and flood.
