Bhubaneswar, July 2:

A 16-year-old girl from the Odisha capital, who had gone missing since June 30, was rescued from a train in Raipur in neighbouring Cchhattisgarh by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel this evening.

whose parents on June 30 had lodged a kidnapped report at Nayapalli police station today rescued from Raipur Station in Jharkhand by the  from a train.

According to Nayapalli police, the father of the girl had lodged a complaint on June 30, the day she went missing, alleging that his daughter had been kidnapped from in front of the DAV Public School in Unit- VIII by two bike borne miscreants.

In his complaint, the father, a bank employee, had said his daughter Ankita Adhikari, who had completed her class X board examination this year from DAV Public School, Unit VIII on June 30, went with her mother for the admission in class XI. After reaching the schoolat around 10 am, Ankita told her mother that she wanted to go out on the main road in front of the school to talk to one of her friends. When Ankita did not return after quite some time, her mother searched the road and learnt from an auto-rickshaw driver that she was forcibly lifted and taken away by two youths on a motorcycle, while she was standing on the road.

Acting on the report, the Nayapalli police reached the incident place and started their preliminary investigation. They also shared the information with the police officers in and outside of the state in order to trace the girl.

The real story that emerged after Ankita’s rescue was entirely different from what the parents had told the police.

Police sources said the girl had received 74 per cent marks in her class X board examination, but had lied to her parents that she had got 94 per cent. On the day of the incident, when she went to take admission to the school, she learnt that the cut off mark this year was 90 per cent which made her ineligible for admission in the school. Ashamed to face her parents, Ankita didn’t return to home and went to Raipur.

However, police have failed to provide the details of her journey. Ankita’s parents have left for Raipur to get her back after getting the news.
