Shop owner shot at in Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: A grocery shop owner was allegedly shot at by a youth following a quarrel with a customer over credit issue at Singipur village under Chatrapur police limits in Ganjam district last night.

The injured shop owner identified as Sushant Patro was later rushed to Chatrapur Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here for treatment.

Reportedly, one Sanjay Barik came to the shop for buying some grocery items on credit. When Sushant’s wife refused to give credit,  he started abusing her which later led to a heated argument with Sushant. Thereafter,  Sanjay went to his house and again came back with a gun and opened fire at Sushant.

“The incident took place at 8:50 pm. Sanjay came and asked for credit. On being refused, he abused and open fired at the right side of my abdomen ,” said Sushant.

On receiving the information, Chhatrapur police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
