Shree Jagannatha Temple to remain out of bounds on Dec 31, Jan 1

Puri: The Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA) today revised the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for devotees visiting the Shree Jagannatha Temple, Puri. The new SOPs will come into effect from December 16, 2021.

As per the revised SOPs, the Shree Jagannatha Temple will remain closed December 31, 2021 and January 1, 2022 for devotees to pay obeisance to the deities. The decision has been taken to avoid any spike in transmission of Covid-19 due to possible large gathering on these two days.

Apart from this, the temple will remain closed for public darshan on all Sundays.

The devotees will be allowed to enter the temple to pay obeisance from 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM on all days when temple is open for public darshan.

Jaya Bijaya Dwar and Beherana Dwar remains closed for performance of special rituals like Banaka Lagi and Paita Lagi.

The new SOPs stated, however, now onwards there will be no restrictions on entry of devotees to the temple complex for darshan of Parshva Devtas and to visit Anand Bazaar.
