Smuggling: 250 gm gold seized at Bhubaneswar Airport in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Air Intelligence Unit of Customs thwarted yet another attempt of smuggling gold at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Odisha capital today by seizing around 250 grams of gold worth Rs 7.9 lakh from a passenger.

Acting on spot intelligence, the officers intercepted a passenger of Indian origin hailing from Mohali, who arrived from Bangkok by Air India Flight-339.

Search of his body and personal baggage led to recovery of one gold Kada and one gold chain of foreign origin weighing 249.350 grams valued at Rs 7,91,686. The items were concealed in his body, official sources said.

Notably, this is the second seizure of gold in three days at the airport.
