While, students from the VIMSAR medical College have resumed classes, they have vowed to seek the Apex court intervention to stop the admission process of students of Jaring-based Sardar Rajas Medical College in five medical colleges including MKCG and VIMSAR as ordered by the Orissa High Court till the matter is resolved.
“Our studies have been disturbed for 22-23 days, since we are medical students, we cannot afford to waste our time, therefore, we have resumed classes while keeping alive our fight on the legal front in the apex court,” said college student union president in VIMSAR.
The petition appeals to the apex court to direct the State government to stay admission of Jaring-based Sardar Rajas Medical College students in five medical colleges as ordered by the Orissa High Court till the matter is resolved.

Earlier, the students had filed an intervening petition and a miscellaneous case in the Orissa High Court, to issue a stay order on its revised order issued on November 18.

The High Court on November 18 had asked the state government to relocate 109 of the 124 Sardar Rajas medicos (who got admission on the basis of all-India ranks) to government colleges and rest 15 (who took admission against management quota) to private colleges.

The court had issued the directive after having a detailed review of the affidavit submitted by the state government, which said the students of the Sardar Rajas Medical College would be rehabilitated as per its earlier order.

The Orissa High Court on December 9 directed the state government to complete registration, seat allotment and admissions by December 23 in the matter pertaining to relocation of students of the Sardar Rajas Medical College (SRMC).
Following which the State government has announced a notification for admission and the reallocation of 124 students of the Sardar Rajas Medical College in three private and two government-run institutions of the State.
According to the notification, 55 students of the Jaring-based medical college will be absorbed in MKCG Medical College while 54 students will be allocated in VIMSAR, Burla. While, five students each will be absorbed in three private institutions- KIMS, SUM and HITECH.
