Teen defaced after being raped and murdered in Odisha

In yet another ghastly incident, a teenage girl from Odisha’s Bolangir district who had gone missing since Friday has been found murdered before rape with face disfigured beyond recognition, a day after on Saturday.

The 15-year-old girl from Sargipalli in the district was found dead near a nullah with acid burn marks on her face and neck, police said today.

The perpetrators tried to mutilate her face after raping and murdering her so as to mislead the investigators, Bolangir DSP, KK Panigrahi said.

Notably, the deceased had passed out the annual HSC examination recently.

After the victim had gone missing on Friday, her father had filed an FIR with the local police.

Meanwhile, police have launched investigation into the incident and trying to apprehend the culprits.

It may be recalled that another minor girl from Kurli village of Kantabanji in the district was allegedly raped by three persons earlier in the first week of this month and one of the accused, a juvenile, was arrested in this connection.
