Three injured as police, criminals exchange fire in Odisha

Jagatsinghpur, June 16:

Two criminals were injured in an exchange of fire with the police near Nagpur under Balikuda police limits in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, sources said.

While Sameer Dalai, a known anti-social has been seriously injured in the incident, one of his associates has also been injured. Both have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital here.

While IIC Balikuda has sustained minor injuries in the incident, police has seized a mouser and three live cartridges from the two.

Acting on a tip off the police on Sunday reached the Hanuman temple at Nagpur while five criminals were hatching a plot to commit a major crime, sources said.

Caught unawares, the criminals fired at the police, which returned fire injuring Sameer and one of his associates.

However, three other members of the gang managed to give the police a slip.
