Three of family perish in tragic road accident in Odisha

Keonjhar: In a tragic incident, three members of a family, including a couple, were killed in a road accident in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Sajad, a native of Mayurbhanj, his wife Tamanna Bibi and their four-year-old daughter Afifa Tehrin.

Another daughter, Tehesin Parveen (3)of the deceased sustained critical injuries and was admitted to the district headquarters hospital.

According to reports, the five members of the family were going towards Chadheibhola in Mayurbhanj in a bike when a pick-up van hit them at Chemana under Turumunga police limits in the district leaving three dead on the spot.

The van driver immediately fled the spot.

On being informed, police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy.

Following the accident, the local people staged road block and burnt tyres on National Highway-49 demanding adequate compensation for the family of the deceased and arrest of the driver.

Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt to nab the van driver.
