Undertrial prisoner commits suicide in Odisha jail

An inmate of the Malkangiri sub-jail in Odisha allegedly committed suicide late on Sunday night by hanging himself.

The deceased has been identified as Muka Padiami who was an undertrial prisoner after being arrested by the Malkangiri police two months ago on charges of involvement in Maoist activities.

The body was handed over to his family members after post-mortem.

According to reports, he committed suicide by hanging himself with a towel inside a toilet. His body was recovered this morning.

Muka hails from Badigata village under Kalimela police station limits. He was arrested on charges of working with Kalimela Dalam.

Police are probing into the matter. The autopsy report will reveal further details, said the Kalimela IIC.
