Union ministers review arrangements ahead of PM’s visit to Odisha’s Steel City

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Odisha’s Steel City of Rourkela on Wednesday, Union Minister for Steel & Mines Narendra Singh Tomar  and  Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas  Dharmendra Pradhan arrived here on Saturday to take stock of preparations for the visit.

The two Union ministers were accompanied by CS Verma, Chairman, SAIL, SS Mohanty, Director (Technical), SAIL, S Abbasi, Joint Secretary, Steel and  Nikunj Srivastav, PS to the Union Minister of Steel.

The dignitaries were given a warm welcome at the airstrip by Jual Oram,  Union Minster for Tribal Affairs, Dilip Ray, MLA, Rourkela, GS Prasad, CEO, RSP, Bhupinder Singh Punia, Collector, Sundargarh, Aniruddh Singh, SP, Rourkela, Executive Directors and other senior officers of RSP, State Government and CISF.

The dignitaries visited the places the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit and discussed the arrangements for the vist with the concerned authorities and district administration officials. According to sources, the ministers have expressed their satisfication at the arrangements for the Modi visit.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to dedicate the modernized units of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) to the nation. With the completion of the modernization cum expansion programme, RSP has now raised its production capacity from 2 million ton to 4.5 million ton.
