Youth held for raping 9-year-old girl in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: A day after a nine-year-old girl was raped by a youth at NV-10 village in Malkangiri district, police arrested the accused and forwarded him to court today.

The accused was identified as Chandra Sekhar Barala alias Chintu.

As per the complaint lodged by the girl’s father, when the girl was playing outside his in-law’s house at the village, Barala, who was a neighbour, managed to take the girl to his house by luring her with money. Later, he rape her in his house.

After reaching house, the girl narrated her plight in front of her family members, who admitted her to district headquarters hospital for treatment and later lodged a complaint at Malkangiri police station.

Acting on the complaint, the police began an investigation and arrested the accused today.
