1 lakh Covishield vaccines to be given in four municipal corporations of Odisha; here’re details

Bhubaneswar: A day after the Odisha government decided to provide the Covid vaccine to 18-44 age group in five municipal corporations initially, a plan for distribution of one lakh Covishield vaccines procured by the government was released.

As per sources at the Health and Family Welfare department, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation will receive 32,800 Covishield vaccines to vaccinate 3,10,232 persons in the age bracket of 18 and 44 years.

The Berhampur Municipal Corporation will get 19,000 Covishield vaccines to vaccinate 1,71,402 people in 18-44 age group.

A target has been set to vaccinate 1,97,759 persons in 18-44 age group in the Rourkela Municipal Corporation area. It has a distribution plan of 27,300 Covishield vaccines, the department sources added.

The Sambalpur Municipal Corporation will get 20,900 vaccines to vaccinate 1,97,759 persons in 18-44 age bracket.

Of the five municipal corporations, the Covaxin vaccine has been given in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area. The Covishield vaccine will be provided in other four municipal corporations.

Earlier in the day, the WODC Chairman, Asit Tripathy informed that Covid vaccination drive for 18-44 age group will commence at Rourkela on May 11, 2021.

Yesterday, the State government decided to vaccinate 18-44 age group in five municipal corporations in the first phases. It further stated after procuring more vaccines the vaccination drive will be expanded to other parts of the district subsequently.
