15 injured after tractor overturns in Odisha’s Nayagarh; 5 shifted to Bhubaneswar in critical condition

Bhapur: As many as 15 persons including women and children sustained grievous injuries as a tractor on which they were travelling turned turtle at Fatehgarh hill under Bhapur police limits in Nayagarh district, today afternoon. Five of the injured are in critical condition and have been shifted to Bhubaneswar.

According to a source, more than 15 devotees were on their way to Fatehgarh hilltop to attend the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Sriram, the presiding deity of a newly-built shrine. The ceremony is to be observed tomorrow in line with the consecration ceremony of the Lord in Ayodhya of Uttar Pradesh.

The Pratishtha Utsav was earlier started on January 17 and is still underway, the source expressed.

Unfortunately, a trailer attached to the tractor overturned when the driver of the ill-fated vehicle was negotiating a turning on the hilly terrain leading to the fatal mishap. The injured were rescued by some locals and were immediately admitted to a community health centre (CHC) in Bhapur for treatment.

Notably, the organisers had arranged to bring devotees to the temple on this occasion by a tractor.
