8 criminals nabbed in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate police’s special squad in its drive against criminals before the Durga Puja,  nabbed eight notorious criminals from the Odisha capital today.

Police have seized one firearm, four motorbikes and Rs 60,000 in cash from their possession. The arrested include two juveniles.

While over 20 cases are registered against their names in various police stations, they were involved in chain snatching and loot.

“They were also involved in criminal activities in the nearby neighbouring districts. A firearm, four motorcycles and Rs 60,000 in cash has been recovered from their possession. They were largely involved in snatching and looting by breaking open dickys of motorcycles,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi to reporters.

A few days back, the police had arrested a notorious criminal-Shiva and based on information elicited from him during interrogation, the eight were nabbed today.
