Armed youth nabbed in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, Aug 29:

The Quick Action Team (QAT) team of the Commissionerate Police in Odisha  today arrested a 27-year-old youth with illegal fire arms while they were on a special drive to track criminals, fire arm smugglers and looters in the city.

The police have recovered one pistol, two rounds of live ammunition, two mobile phones and one motor cycle from the accused.

The accused,  identified as Surya Narayan Mohanty alias Lulu of Banth Chhak under Bhadrak Town police limits in Bhadrak district and presently staying at Niladri Vihar area in the city, was booked under section 25 Arms Act by the police.

He will be forwarded to a local court here tomorrow.

Kharvela Nagar police said , the QAT team along with Kharvela police staff swung into action after getting reliable information about an armed youth  moving in a speeding bike in the city and intercepted him near Keshari Talkies this evening.

After searching the accused’s belongings, the police recovered an illegal fire arm and two live catridges and seized them.

“After registering a case in the incident under the Arms Act, the culprit has been arrested and will be forwarded to the court. Further investigation of the case is in progress,” a Kharavela Nagar police officer said.
