All-party meeting fails to end deadlock, Odisha Assly adjourned till Tuesday

Speaker of Odisha Assembly today adjourned the House till Tuesday as the all-party meeting failed to break the deadlock over chit fund scam issue in the House.

As soon as the Question Hour began, Opposition Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members rushed to the well of the House following which the speaker adjourned the House till 12.30.

While the Congress members were demanding Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s resignation, BJP members wore black gowns to register their protest over chit fund scam issue.

Later, the House was adjourned twice—first till 3 pm and then till 4 pm.

Earlier in the day, Congress members met Governor SC Jamir and demanded Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s resignation, Justice MM Das’ resignation over his remarks on refund of money to duped chit fund investors and President’s rule in the state.

After repeated adjournments, Speaker Niranjan Pujari called an all-party meeting at 11.30 am in which Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and other Opposition leader participated in it.

The Assembly will remain closed on Monday due to Akshay Trutiya. The all-party meeting has been postponed till 9.30 am on Tuesday, informed Speaker Niranjan Pujari.
