Bad weather: Two Bhubaneswar-bound flights diverted to Kolkata

Bhubaneswar: Two flights scheduled to land at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Odisha capital were today diverted to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata due to inclement weather.

An Indigo and an Air Asia flight were diverted to the nearest airport in Kolkata due to unseasonal rain in the Temple City.

The Bhubaneswar-bound flights – IndiGo 6E 312 from Bangalore and AirAsia 1564 from Hyderabad had to change their route as the Air Traffic Controller here did not give permission to land here.

Yesterday, six flights made emergency landing in BPIA due to bad weather. The flights 6E 172 Bangalore-Kolkata, 9W 907 New Delhi-Kolkata, 6E 708 Patna-Kolkata, AI 710 Mohanbari-Kolkata, G8 537 Baroda-Kolkata and UK 778 Port Blair-Kolkata landed here and later took off after weather conditions improved.
