Bhubaneswar: More COVID-19 cases reported from potato godown, Salia Sahi slum

After potato godown & Salia Sahi slum, Baya Baba mutt raises concern with highest 19 cases reported from the religious institution.

Bhubaneswar: As many as 215 persons in the state capital tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking the count to 2365 , informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today.

The number of local contacts is gradually rising in the capital city triggering panic among the residents. Out of total fresh cases, 150 have been detected from quarantine centres while remaining 65 are local contacts.

As per case details shared by the civic authority, as many as 19 cases have been reported from Baya Baba Mutt and 10 cases each from Salia Sahi Basti and Alugadi (potato godown) located at Aiginia. All the cases are linked with earlier positive cases and were under quarantine. Yesterday, 20 positive cases were reported from the potato godown.

Besides, 11 employees of a private hospital here have tested positive for the virus.

Further contact tracing is underway. Primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised and will be under active surveillance, said the BMC.

Meanwhile, the State capital registered a record 130 recoveries in the last 24 hours. Total 1141 patients have recovered from the disease in the city. With this, the number of active cases stands at 1209.
