Bombs ‘hurled’ at motorcycle in Odisha’s Sambalpur; tension triggers as 2 injured

Sambalpur: Unidentified miscreant(s) allegedly ‘hurled’ bombs today evening at a motorcycle parked near Pirbaba Chhak under Town police limits in Sambalpur town of this district. Two persons sustained injuries in the incident. However, the reason behind the attack has not been ascertained yet.

According to a source, someone hurled bombs on a Bullet motorcycle from a flyover bridge near Pirbaba Chhak in the town. As a result, two persons standing nearby were injured. One of them sustained injuries on his palm. Besides, the motorcycle seat on which the bomb was hurled got burnt.

Tension was triggered in the area following the bomb attack, which was later brought under control by police.

Meanwhile, Sambalpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo and Northern Range IG Himansu Kumar Lal have reached the spot and initiated a probe into the alleged bombing.

“We got information an hour before that a motorcycle parked near the Masjid at Pirbaba Chhak has exploded. Two persons were injured but are out of danger now. The situation is under control and a detailed probe is underway,” the Sambalpur SP said while briefing mediapersons.
