COVID-19 scare: All Parks to remain closed in Odisha capital from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: As part of taking measures for containment of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), all Public Parks under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will remain closed from tomorrow in the state capital.

Exercising the powers under section 583 to 599 of Odisha Municipal Corporation Act 2003, the BMC Commissioner has ordered to close all the parks owned either by the government or private authorities within BMC limit from March 22 to 31 to check spread of the highly infectious disease.

The move has been taken in view of congregation at public places despite regulations and guidelines issued urging people for maintaining social distancing to prevent spread of coronavirus.

Worth mentioning, two persons with travel history to COVID-19 affected foreign countries have tested positive for the deadly virus in Bhubaneswar. Entire world is under attack from the spread of coronavirus with over 11,000 death toll so far. In India, five persons have died due to COVID-19.
