Elderly woman, 2 granddaughters drown in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, an elderly woman and her two granddaughters died after drowning in a pond at Nuagaon village under Tihidi police limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district today.

The deceased have been identified as Malilata Mallik (70), Anjana (11) and Shrabani (10).

According to reports, the two minor girls drowned in the pond while they had gone to the water body to clean themselves after attending nature’s call.

As the duo didn’t return home, their grandmother searched for them and found the bodies floating in the pond. In a bid to save the girls, the woman went into the pond and drowned.

A pall of gloom descended on the village after the tragedy.
