GRP personnel pushes TC from moving train for demanding ticket!

Bhubaneswar: An on-duty train ticket conductor (TC) was allegedly pushed from running train at Berhampur railway station in Odisha last night as he demanded ticket from a Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel on-board Purulia-Vellupuram Super Fast Express.

The on-duty TC D Kiran Sagar detected a passenger travelling in B-1 coach of the train without a valid ticket. When he asked the traveller to show the ticket, the passenger introduced himself as a GRP official and refused to pay any dues.

The ticketless passenger was asked to vacate the coach owing which he abused the railway official. Moments later, four GRP personnel, in uniform as well as plain clothes, reached and dragged the TTE towards the door and pushed him from the train which had just left Berhampur station.

“One ASI of GRP who was in uniform pulled me from the running train. I fell down on the platform which caused dislocation of my right shoulder,” D Kiran Sagar said.

The injured railway official was initially provided first aid at Berhampur railway health unit and later admitted to Visakhapatnam Railway Hospital.

Sagar also lodged an FIR against the GRP officials at Berhampur GRP office.

Today, one of the erring officials of the GRP was placed under suspension for his ‘gross misconduct’.

“Pending drawal of disciplinary proceeding, Rajendra Kumar Munda, IIC Berhampur GRPS is placed under suspension with immediate effect for his gross misconduct for travelling in Purulia-Villupuram Express train without ticket and when the TTE found him travelling without ticket and asked to vacate, at his instigation, some GRP personnel assaulted the TTE causing grievous injury,” DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma said.
