India-NZ T20 match at Odisha’s Barabati on Nov 4!

Cuttack: In what can be a treat for cricket lovers of Odisha, a T20 international cricket match between India and New Zealand is likely to be held at Barabati stadium here on November 4 this year.

“Though any written confirmation in this regard is yet to be received by the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), the BCCI officials have verbally confirmed about the selection of Barabati stadium as the venue for the match,” said OCA’s working committee chairman Dhiren Palei.

If held, the T20 match will be the second one at the stadium, the first one being played between India and South Africa on October 5, 2015 when the infamous bottle pelting incident took place. Many spectators, being upset with Team India’s performance in the match, had hurled plastic bottles onto the ground resulting in interruptions in the match.
