Lockdown restrictions ease unlikely in these Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: As the extended lockdown in Odisha is going to end on June 17, Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra today said decision on unlock process will be taken after a review of the COVID-19 situation following the Raja festival.

Speaking to media, the official said, “The infection rate is declining and the situation coming under control. As we predicted, the number of daily cases as well as active cases is decreasing. Steps taken to curb spread of the virus has worked. But it is too early for complete relaxation.”

After June 17, the state Government may begin unlock process in districts, where the infection rate is declining. And, surveillance will be tightened in districts, where the number of cases is on rise. The infection rate still remains high in districts like Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh, he added.

Mishra further said testing is being intensified in places having higher Test Positivity Rate (TPR). People found infected are being asked to isolate themselves and follow all protocols.
