Man allegedly hangs his wife to death in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj; detained

Jashipur: A woman was allegedly killed by her husband over a family feud by hanging her on a tree with the help of a Saree at Tikarapada village under Jashipur police limits in Mayurbhanj district, late Tuesday night. The incident came to the fore today after an FIR was lodged at a local police station.

The victim woman was identified as Asani Ho and the accused man identified as Rintu Ho from the village.

According to an official, the incident took place late Tuesday night. The man and his wife used to indulge in altercations very often over petty matters. Allegedly, he hanged the woman on a tree However, the reason as to why he killed his wife has not been ascertained yet, the cop stated.

On being informed about it, Jashipur police reached the spot and initiated a probe to find out the cause of death. Police have seized the woman’s body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem.

A probe team has detained the accused and is questioning him to gather more information.

“The alleged murder is the fallout of a family feud. During the primary investigation, it was known that the man was in an inebriated condition on the intervening night. In a fit of rage, he committed the crime. However, a detailed probe into the incident is underway. The exact reason for the woman’s untimely death can be ascertained after a post-mortem report comes in,” the senior police official expressed.
