Woman found dead in school latrine in Odisha’s Jajpur; murder suspected

Jajpur: The body of an elderly woman was spotted today by some locals while lying in the latrine of a nodal school at Madhusudanpur village under Binjharpur police limits in Jajpur district, under mysterious circumstances.

The deceased woman was identified as Binodini Sahoo, who belonged to the village.

According to a source, Binodini had gone to the school early in the morning to pluck flowers. She used to go to the premises every day. However, she was found dead later on.

“My elder sister (Binodini) had gone to the school yesterday but was found dead after a frantic search. Her body has injury marks and her gold ornaments (earrings, and bangles) have been looted by the miscreant(s). It seems that she was attacked and killed. Later, she was dragged up to the latrine and thrown inside it,” the deceased’s younger brother Nagen Kumar Sahoo said.

On being informed, Binjharpur police and a scientific team reached the spot and initiated a probe into the suspicious death, which is underway.

Police seized the body and sent it to a nearby hospital for post-mortem.
