Man beats wife to death with wooden plank for silly reason in Odisha’s Jeypore, arrested

Jeypore: A man allegedly killed his wife by beating her with a wooden plank as the woman failed to serve food to the accused on time at Dangaguda village under Town police limits in Jeypore district. The accused identified as Bhagat Harijan from Puruna Borigumma locality was arrested today.

The deceased woman was identified as 63-year-old Kusuma Paraja, who was Bhagat’s second wife.

According to Town police station IIC Satyananda Patra, after a little bit of delay in serving the lunch, the man indulged in an altercation with the victim. Things took an ugly turn when, in a fit of rage, the Bhagat attacked his wife with a wooden plank on the woman’s head leading to her untimely death.

“Bhagat beat Sukuma and later she collapsed on the ground. The woman sustained severe injuries and succumbed yesterday at around 2.00 pm. The accused covered her body with a blanket and fled from the crime spot after nearly 10 hours taking advantage of the fall of night,” the senior cop said.

“During the investigation, the accused confessed to his crime,” Town police station IIC Patra added.

Wirth mentioning, Bhagat had also killed his first wife about 15 years ago.
