Youth allegedly kills mother by slitting her throat, hangs self in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: The bodies of an elderly woman and her unmarried son were spotted today morning in a house under mysterious circumstances at Bhaludhari village of Balaramprasad under Nalco police limits in Angul district.

The deceased elderly woman, aged around 65 years, was identified as Draupadi Sahu, and her son was identified as Ranjit Sahu.

According to a police source, Draupadi was lying dead on the ground with her throat slit with the help of a sharp weapon. Ranjit allegedly died by suicide and was found while hanging in the house.

On being informed, a team of local police reached the village and seized the two bodies. Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe, which is underway. Bodies of the mother and son were sent to a nearby hospital for post-mortem, SDPO Ratnakar Mahalik said.

A scientific team has been assisting local police in the probe.
