Manish Anurag murder case: Three accused persons sent on 4-day remand

Bhubaneswar: A local court in Bhubaneswar today allowed the Commissionerate Police to take three accused persons on a remand for interrogation in Manish Anurag murder case.

The Judicial Magistrate of the First Class (JMFC) Court, Bhubaneswar, gave permission to the Commissionerate Police to take three persons arrested in the case on remand for a period of 4 days for further questioning.

Yesterday, the Commissionerate Police had arrested three accused persons on charges of murder and destroying evidence.

The three accused persons were Amrit Ketan Biswal, Dinesh Kumar Mohapatra and Mrutyunjay Mishra. While Amrit was said to be a friend of deceased Manish Anurag, two others were the friends of Amrit. The trio is accused of killing Manish, son of senior journalist Navin Das, during altercation over hotel bill payment.

Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash yesterday revealed under which circumstances Manish’s friend Amrit along with his two friends killed the former and disposed of the body in a pond on October 10 night.

Earlier, the police had traced a car in which Manish and his friends reportedly had visited a hotel at Patrapada area before his death. Later, his friends surrendered before the police.

The body of Manish Anurag, son of Nirbhay Editor Navin Das, was found floating in a pond located at Patrapada village under Tomando Police Station on outskirts of Bhubaneswar on October 10 afternoon.

He was missing since October 9 night. Reportedly, he had gone for shopping for his marriage scheduled for next month.

After his death, Navin Das in a YouTube programme had alleged that his son was murdered by his friends who had invited him for a feast.
