Maoists release audio tape, oppose Odisha’s Gurupriya bridge

Bhubaneswar: Maoist leader Kailash has released an audio tape criticising the Odisha Government for construction of Gurupriya bridge in Malkangiri district.

He said in the audio tape that the government should not take credit for the bridge. He also alleged that the bridge has been built with an aim of exploiting the tribals.

The bridge was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on July 26, which provided road connectivity to around 150 villages of the cut-off areas of the district. Since then, it has led to surrender of many Maoists due to facilitation of anti-Maoist operations in the areas by security forces.

The Maoist leader has also appealed for provision of more relief for the tribals affected in Cyclone Daye in the district.
