Mercury shoots up in Odisha, to be intense in next four days

After a brief respite, temperature in most parts of Odisha went up alarmingly today.

Heat Wave TempBarring Gopalpur (31), Puri (33) and Koraput (33), temperature went up to an average of 3-4 degree Celsius at most of the places in the state.

A release by the Met department here this evening said there would be no change in the weather conditions till the next three days up to April 4 after which temperature would rise further in the state in the next two days.

“The sudden rise in temperature in the state is due to the blowing of south-westerly wind across Odisha”, Dr Sarat Sahu, director, Meteorological Centre, told the media here.

While Angul remained the hottest place with 40.7 degrees, temperature hovered between 36 and 40 degrees in Baleswar (36.2), Chandbali (38.2), Cuttack (36), Bhubaneswar (39), Baripada (36.6), Jharsuguda (38.6), Keonjhar (36.8), Sambalpur (39.2), Hirakud (38.7), Talcher (38.5), Bhawanipatna (39), Phulbani (36.1), Titlagarh (37.5), Malkangiri (39.2), Sonepur (37.5) and Dhenkanal (38.1).
