Miscreants decamp with Rs 4.64 Lakh after hitting PEO’s motorcycle in Odisha’s Bolangir

Kantabanji: In a broad daylight heist today, a panchayat extension officer (PEO) was looted of around Rs 4.64 lakh by three unidentified miscreants by dashing against his running motorcycle at Dandara under Bangomunda police limits on SH-42 in Bolangir district.

The victim man has been identified as Bangomunda PEO Satya Kumar Ghivela.

According to a source, Satya and his colleague identified as Chintamani Rana were on their way back home to Kantabanji locality after withdrawing the money from a State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Bangomunda. Satya had withdrawn allowance money supposed to be disbursed among beneficiaries.

Miscreants chased the victim and intercepted him at a secluded place to execute a loot plan.

Satya and Chintamani fell from the motorcycle after being hit by the miscreants’ two-wheeler.

The bike-borne miscreants threatened Satya by brandishing weapons. They broke open his motorcycle dicky, snatched away the money, and fled from the spot soon after committing the crime.

The injured duo was rescued by some locals and was admitted to hospital for treatment.

On being informed, Bangomunda police reached the spot and launched a probe.
