Near to home CVC for mentally ill persons in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: As a directive was issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Odisha government decided to set up Near to Home Covid Vaccination Centre (NHCVC) on the premises of mental health establishment to vaccinate inmates.

In a letter to district administrations, municipal commissioners, CDMOs and PHOs, Health and Family Welfare Department’s Additional Chief Secretary PK Mohapatra stated the NHCVC will be set up as per the guidelines that the State communicated to the Health Ministry on vaccination to elderly and differently-abled citizens on May 31, 2021.

The SoPs for the vaccinating inmates of mental health establishment will he done through facilitated cohort registration. Earlier, similar type of SoPs were issued for vaccination of vulnerable persons who do not have prescribed ID card for registration in Co-WIN on May 11, 2021.

The letter added any pregnant women and lactating women from mental health establishments will also be vaccinated as per the instructions issued by the State on July 6, 2021.

The officials were also asked to submit the vaccination weekly status report every Monday at mental health establishments in districts.
