The decision was taken today in a meeting of PCC office bearers and district presidents, based on the recommendations received from All India Congress Committee (AICC), said a source in the party.

“It is the common man that is at the receiving end of demonetization drive implemented by the Modi Government. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also supported the move. Congress will protest against both the Central and State government,” said PCC President Prasad Harichandan.

According to the party, as many as 11 conveners will be appointed across the state – each in charge of three organisational districts – to supervise the campaign.

Further, the women wing of the party will launch state-wide agitations in various manners in the coming days. In addition, all the ranks of the party will hold demonstrations across the state in support of the national-level protest led by AICC on January 11.
