Odisha: Girl attempts suicide after her marriage called off
Berhampur: A girl of Matia Sahi village under Kukudakhandi block in Ganjam district today attempted suicide by consuming phenyle after her marriage scheduled to be held in February was called off.
The girl was later rushed to MKCG Medial College and Hospital here and is currently undergoing treatment.

“Two people defamed her by spreading rumors about her in front of husband, leading to which her wedding was called off. Not being able to resist the shock, she attempted to take the extreme step,” informed relatives.
It is pertinent to mention here that the wrongdoers had earlier spread rumors about the girl’s elder sister and broke her marriage.
