Odisha Govt appoints nodal officer to monitor dengue situation

Odisha Government today appointed IAS officer Ramchandra Sachin Jadhav as the nodal officer to monitor dengue situation in the state.

A decision on the context was taken in a joint meeting of the Health and Family Welfare Department and Housing and Urban Development Department held at the Secretariat in Bhubaneswar today.

“Today the Health and Family Welfare Department and Housing and Urban Development Department held a meeting to take stock of the dengue situation in the state. Joint Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Department Ramchandra Sachin Jadhav has been appointed as the nodal officer based on the recommendation of that department,” said Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak speaking to reporters today.

“Jadhav will visit the urban pockets of the affected districts to assess the situation. The incidence of dengue is high in Barbil in Keonjhar district, Cuttack city and its Jagatpur Industrial Estate area,” he added.

A massive cleaning operation would be conducted in the affected areas to arrest the spread of the vector-borne disease, said Housing and Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo.

It may be mentioned here that according to government data, a total of 797 patients have been identified in the state of which 541 are from Barbil alone. Of the total number of patients, treatment of 130 patients is underway in various hospitals in the state.
