Odisha man gets 10 years in jail for sexually harassing minor girl

Bhadrak: The Bhadrak Additional District and Sessions Judge Court today awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to 29-year-old Digambar Majhi for sexually harassing a minor girl at Palikiri village under Dhamnagar police limits in the district in 2016.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him for the offence.

On November 1, 2016, Digambar, the son of Dayanidhi, went to his neighbour’s house and outraged the modesty of an 8-year-old girl. Later, when he attempted to rape the minor after taking her to the terrace, her grand mother came to her rescue hearing her scream.

A case was later registered at Dhamnagar police station by the the girl’s uncle, following which the cops arrested Digambar. He was lodged in jail as an Under-trial Prisoner since then.
