Odisha Vigilance raids OAS officer’s houses, office at Secretariat

Bhubaneswar: Acting of allegation of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, Odisha Vigilance sleuths today conducted raids at the residence, office and houses of OAS officer Ashutosh Samal, currently working in the Revenue & Disaster Management Department of the State Government.

As many as four teams of the anti-corruption agency raided Samal’s official residence, flat at Kharvel Nagar here, office at the State Secretariat, ancestral house at native place Sasan Purusottampur under Badachana police limits in Jajpur district and house at Nabarangpur village under Bhandaripokhari police limits in Bhadrak district, reports said.

“Samal’s immovable property include two plots in the city worth over Rs 1 crore. His deposits in LIC policies, different banks and post offices, gold and silver ornaments, household articles, a car, one two-wheeler and cash worth over Rs 22 lakh was traced. The total cost of Samal’s immovable and movable property was traced at over Rs 1.22 crore,” a Vigilance officer said.
